Set on the war-torn planet Sera, Gears of War follows Marcus Fenix, a disgraced soldier who is freed from prison to help humanity’s last defense against the monstrous Locust Horde, a race of subterranean creatures that emerged on Emergence Day and wiped out much of civilization.

Marcus joins Delta Squad, which includes his best friend Dom Santiago, alongside Baird and Cole, as they embark on a desperate mission to deploy the Lightmass Bomb, a weapon designed to destroy the Locust’s underground tunnels. Along the way, Marcus battles ruthless Locust forces, uncovering the true scale of their invasion.

The squad fights through ruined cities, abandoned bases, and Locust strongholds, facing monstrous enemies like Boomers, Theron Guards, and Berserkers. In the climactic battle aboard a moving train, Marcus and Dom defeat the massive General RAAM, ensuring the Lightmass Bomb detonates and cripples the Locust forces—though the war is far from over.
